APN will organise one annual Forum as its core convening activity. The Forum will bring together universities, practitioners, policymakers, diplomats, international organisations and other relevant actors from the region. It will provide a regular platform to discuss the Rome Statute, international criminal law, domestic implementation, regional priorities, cooperation with international criminal justice institutions and future joint initiatives. By meeting regularly, participants can build trust, exchange perspectives and develop follow-up ideas, recommendations, joint statements or new projects where appropriate.
APN will support events in Japan, the Republic of Korea and Mongolia to strengthen regional participation beyond the annual Forum. These events will allow academics, practitioners, government officials, students and other stakeholders to discuss international criminal justice in their own legal and institutional contexts and to connect those discussions to wider regional cooperation. They may also provide opportunities to engage participants from neighbouring countries and regional communities; for example, events in Mongolia may create entry points for dialogue with participants from Central Asia.
APN will develop educational activities for academics, practitioners, policymakers, undergraduate and graduate students. These may include introductory lectures, advanced seminars, skills-based training, policy-oriented discussions, summer-school style programmes, and, where feasible and in cooperation with relevant institutions, short training visits to the Court or other international criminal justice institutions. These activities may also include preparatory support for those interested in international criminal justice careers, internships or visiting professional placements.
APN will promote joint research, academic exchange and expert dialogue. These activities will support the development of international criminal law and justice in regional contexts, encourage comparative learning and create opportunities for collaborative publications, research projects and academic partnerships.
APN will build a regional community of scholars, prosecutors, judges, government officials, lawyers, students and other practitioners engaged in international criminal justice. It will also seek to connect former interns, visiting professionals and other persons with practical experience in international criminal justice institutions, so that their experience can be shared within the region and used to support future capacity development.
APN will develop a website and publication platform to preserve and disseminate the knowledge generated through Forums, seminars, research and expert contributions. The website will host country profiles, timely expert commentaries on current issues, reports and information on APN activities, and will also allow APN to monitor public engagement through access data and other analytics.
